Froehliche Weihnachten!

Mrs. Wriglesworth presented German Christmas customs to the 5th graders this week. She taught them to say "Froehliche Weihnachten" which means "Merry Christmas" in German. She showed them hand-painted Christmas ornaments and pictures from the Christkindlmarkts, the Christmas markets, that are found all over Germany. She also baked Lebkuchen for us to taste. YUM!

What did you learn about German Christmas customs? What special traditions does your family practice during the holidays?

Getting Ready for Market Day...

We've been learning all about goods and services, opportunity costs, advertisements, supply and demand, incentives, and entrepreneurs in Social Studies to get ready for Market Day. Do you think your business has what it takes to compete with others on December 15th?

Tell me about your business - what are you selling? Do you think it will be successful? Why or why not? What incentives do you plan to offer customers if your product doesn't sell? What's the hardest part about being a new entrepreneur? What advice would you give to the student's who will participate in Market Day next year?
